Woven Language
This is an overview of the MA final collection that was seen in the degree show, it is a continuation of Inherited Identity. A woven textile collection was crafted to honour my father, using weaving as a therapeutic process and way of communication. These fabrics serve as a visual narrative of grief, conveying emotion through colour, text, pattern, and motif. Inspired by the use of melancholy objects in grieving practices each item was used to symbolise a story attached to them in order to preserve memories and connections with loved ones. The collection seeks to evoke remembrance and reflection. Colour and techniques were also informed by trend forecasting to create appropriate designs to be applied to women’s accessories for a spring/summer 2025 collection. These fabrics have also been visualised for small collection of soft interior accessories.
